‘Great Joe Biden Replacement Theory’ Gains Traction Amidst President’s Missteps

As the 2024 presidential election looms on the horizon, the Democratic Party finds itself grappling with a growing concern: the age and fitness of their current frontrunner, President Joe Biden.

At 81 years old, Biden’s public appearances have increasingly fueled speculation about whether he will ultimately bow out of the race or be forced to step aside, the Daily Mail reports.

Recent incidents have only intensified the chatter surrounding Biden’s capabilities. At a Los Angeles fundraiser on Saturday, former President Barack Obama was seen reaching for Biden’s hand and seemingly guiding him off the stage. This moment, captured on video, quickly went viral, raising eyebrows and sparking discussions about the president’s mental acuity.

Just days earlier, at a Juneteenth celebration at the White House, Biden stood motionless and stared blankly for a full minute as others around him sang and danced.

While the White House has vehemently denied that the President froze during the event, calling the viral video a “cheap fake memo,” the incident has only added fuel to the fire of speculation.

Despite the Biden campaign and Democratic Party’s efforts to quell the growing concerns, Americans remain fixated on what has been dubbed the “Great Joe Biden Replacement Theory.”

This idea suggests that, one way or another, the president will be swapped out as the Democratic Party’s candidate before the 2024 election.

AdvPolling guru Nate Silver weighed in on the matter last week, stating, “Dropping out would be a big risk. But there’s some threshold below which continuing to run is a bigger risk. Are we there yet? I don’t know. But it’s more than fair to ask.”

Silver noted that Biden’s average approval rating had reached a new low of 37.4 percent, with the president’s age being a chief concern among voters.

Atlantic columnist Mark Leibovich recently dubbed the President “Ruth Bader Biden,” a reference to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who faced criticism from some liberals for refusing to retire during Barack Obama’s presidency and subsequently passed away during Donald Trump’s term.

James Carville, the political mastermind behind Bill Clinton’s presidential campaigns, has also openly stated that Biden should not have run for re-election.

In an apparent attempt to silence critics within the party, the Biden team has scheduled one of the earliest presidential debates in history, set for June 27 on CNN.

However, this gambit carries significant risk. While an efficient debate performance could help rally Democrats behind Biden, a misstep would only intensify calls for his replacement.

Mark Penn, a former Clinton advisor and polling expert, suggests that the CNN debate will be Biden’s last chance to reassure voters of his fitness for the job. “They have deliberately thrown down the gauntlet for an early debate,” Penn said, “and I think that’s gonna be the point at which Americans judge: is he ready for another term or not.”
