Walz Unintentionally Helps the Trump Campaign by Saying, ‘We Can’t Afford Four More Years of This’

Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz inadvertently boosted the Trump campaign during a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday when he declared, “We can’t afford four more years of this.”

The moment occurred as the Democratic vice presidential hopeful was campaigning in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While addressing gun violence, Walz was sidetracked by an audience member who seemed to need water.

“Things like we did in Minnesota, to have enhanced background checks and red flag laws, to get guns out of there, to make a difference,” said Walz, per Fox News.

“And I still got my guns to go shoot pheasants in a couple weeks….We need some water, can we get [a] check on him?” he said, focusing on the distressed rallygoer.

Moments later, Walz turned his attention to former President Donald Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

“I’ll bring her home here quick, folks: Look, Kamala Harris made it clear these guys want to instill fear. They want to tell you that [you should] just get over it, it’s a fact of life. This is the way it is.”

“[Harris] simply has said it doesn’t have to be this way,” he continued.

“It doesn’t have to be this way. We can’t afford four more years of this.”

While his statement was focused on the dangers of another Trump presidency, conservatives on X saw it as an opportunity to mock and agree with him in what appeared to be a shot at the current administration.

Republican Senate nominee for Arizona, Kari Lake, wrote, “I never thought I’d say this, but Tim Walz is absolutely right. We can’t afford four more years of Kamala Harris. And we certainly can’t afford six more years of Radical Ruben Gallego.”

“Moron forgot Kamala is the current Vice President under a Democrat administration,” X user Rising serpent wrote.

“Tim Walz just admitted that we can’t afford 4 more years of this! At least he’s payed attention to the last 4 years of ‘this,’” one user wrote.

“Umm…who wants to tell him that he and Walz have been running Minnesota and the US for the last 4 years?!? This is probably the first time I have ever agreed with Walz,” wrote another user.

The latest Walz gaffe follows another awkward moment he faced on the campaign trail when he accidentally appeared to call Vice President Kamala Harris a “young prostitute” instead of a young prosecutor.

The Harris-Walz campaign did not respond to requests for comments regarding the incident.
