T-Minus 364 Days and Counting
With yesterday being Election Day 2019 for many state and local races across the country, it means that it is officially less than one year away from Election Day 2020 – November 3rd, 2020.
What can we expect from the next election? At this point, who knows. Will the Left uncover the smoking gun that will lead to Trump’s impeachment? Will the FISA IG report expose the Deep State’s treason against President Trump? Will the economy hold itself together long enough to not shatter Trump’s chances of another four years? Alas, those musings are not for this post.
There are a few things that we DEFINITELY know:
- We know that the push for gun control will march ever onward, regardless of who wins.
- We know that divisiveness will continue to grow as the chasm between Right and Left expands and the desire for compromise shrinks.
- We know that the Far-Left will continue to be active in the streets and in training, whether it is under the cover of a Democratic Administration or in the face of a continued Republican Administration.
- We know that the fragility of our system is ever present, from the Just-In-Time supply chain and the chronically underprotected electrical grid to the global threats we face in Russia and China’s expansion and projection of power in South America.
- We know that, much like heroin addicts, our financial system is absolutely addicted to its drug – Quantitative Easing and cheap credit – and we know that a system like that cannot survive indefinitely.
We should be redoubling our efforts to get the requisite training we need and to get the supplies that we require. Where should our focus lie? Each person must answer that for themselves, but I can certainly tell you what two of my top priorities are (aside from food, water, medical supplies, and the absolute basics). I choose these priorities not because everything else is less important, but because if the election does not go our way, I think that there will be a vigorous push for gun control and I am afraid that the political defenses we currently have against it will not hold.
Stripped Lowers, Build Kits, and 80% Lowers
There is absolutely no reason why everyone should not be stocking AR-15 lowers like they are going out of style. One of the big gun control pushes will always be Assault Weapons Bans, and you should be trying to stock up on AR parts and build kits. I personally buy all of my lowers from Palmetto State Armory, and considering that they often have stripped lowers for $29.99 or $39.99, even people short on cash can buy an extra lower or two to stock away for a rainy day. Pairing that with a AR-15 Build Kit, you have a complete AR rifle for under $350. The days of the $350 AR-15 are numbered, so take advantage while you can. And as NC Scout pointed out yesterday, a “budget” build is all you need to be effective in the field (though in my opinion, Palmetto State far exceeds “budget” and I own enough of their guns to back that up).
There are a number of sites that sell 80% lowers and the requisite tools to finish them, and they have a wealth of resources to help even the most mechanically challenged people (coughcoughMEcoughcough) finish them. I have personally purchased from 5D Tactical, but there are others out there. If possible, pay using cryptocurrencies or even a mailed check. Just keep it off the credit card so that if the financial institutions decided to turn over records, that purchase is made off the books.
Standard Capacity Magazines
Another top target of gun controllers is, as we all know, standard capacity magazines. If the Dems manage to sweep the House + Senate + Presidency, this would probably be order number one in this policy area. Even if they don’t win all three, my question to you is this: do you really expect the spineless GOP in Congress to truly protect your right to own a 30+ round magazine? I’m going to say no. Buy the magazines now in large quantities. GunMagWarehouse has a huge selection of magazines and occasionally has insane deals (I recently bought twenty 9-round Glock 43 magazines from them at $5.99 a pop despite the fact I don’t even own a Glock 43). They are especially useful for those, like me, in states that have magazine restrictions because they have a large selection of magazines in 15, 10 or 5 round increments like PMags and HexMags (my two preferred choices). Palmetto State also occasionally has both 30 round PMags and GI Aluminum magazines at $8.99 or even $7.99 a magazine – sometimes even with free shipping on 10+! They also occasionally pair cases of ammo with ten PMags at a price where you are basically getting the magazines for damn near zero. If you think you have enough, you don’t.
Time to Wake Up
Now is the time to wake up out of your Trump Slump slumber and repurpose and rededicate yourself to your prepping. Prepping should not be a chore. It should be a lifestyle. Resiliency should be ingrained into our being and our daily lives. When I pray before bed every night, I ask God for two things: Discernment, and Discipline. I personally know that He has a plan for me, and I ask Him to show me what He wants me to do. Then, I pray for the discipline to get the job done. Now is the time for all of use to discern our paths forward, and to go down our paths with the utmost discipline.

I understand the benefit of 80% lowers and even complete 80% kits from an OPSEC perspective if done properly. I do not understand the same RE stripped lowers and associated build kits other than price as the lowers mentioned by the author are serialized. What am I missing?
I am not suggeating the stripped lowers as being OPSEC friendly. They are a way to build a bunch of rifles to spread across caches or give to friends in a pinch. By spreading the guns out, they cannot all be grabbed at once. This is also assuming an AWB has a grandfather clause which may be the only way it gets passed.
The build kits can be bought anonymously since no lowers are included.
My apologies if those two different thoughts were not clear.

Be the evil Kulak Deplorable they fear and do not hesitate to give the Bolsheviks the violence and anarchy they so desire.
We have coasted off the fumes of our ancestors for long enough and the Tree Of Liberty is parched.
Just remember to fight on your terms, not theirs. Keep some firearms cached so that when they come at 3am and take yours while you are groggily waking up, you can give them up with a fake smile while counting down the time until you retrieve your stash.
Honestly, I feel energized and filled with anxious anticipation, It’s like waiting for the circus to come to town and I’m a young boy standing on main street a full day before the parade starts! In reality I’ve been standing on this street corner since the ’90s Assault Weapon Ban. Americans have seen the enemies of Globalism assassinated, shot, hanged, train and plane crashed, heart attacked; beaten, attacked in public and private, jailed on false charges, bankrupted, black listed and censored on public media. Soros played this game in the Balkans and Slavic states. Soros has admitted he’s been playing it here for decades and he’s succeeded. It will be a Bracken style CW, but with a Trump in the WH, so no foreign invasion will be coming in to save the Leftists. This time the Right gets to wear the black pajamas and Tet is just around the corner. Let the cities starve, let California burn, let the Eastern Seaboard go dark and lack fuel for a month let the elite deal with drug deprived zombie-looters with-out their paid mercenary police to protect them. The stage is set, the warm-up acts have been performing since 2008, the Killer Clowns are in the wings lusting for blood, the curtain is rising, the first act is a real killer. Time to step outside the theater for a cigarette and return with a clean-up crew.
What is the obsession with 80% lowers? I have one pistol and one rifle. I built it for fun last Christmas. But serious talk, how does having an 80% lower help me? Am I missing something?
The FBI has everyone’s DNA on file. If you ever touch the weapon, it is forever tainted with your DNA. Not to mention they will vacuum and entire area and run all the samples through a database.
They will catch you. And the new AI tracking for camera video, per Microsoft, facebook, and apple. Has all of our data on file.
Sitting around and waiting another 30 years? is that the plan. This has been the same story since the 1990’s. YAWN.
Im all in. But we just sit around.
Doing something, what a novel concept.
I started two websites and founded a training company to get people ready. All I can do is what I’m doing, and there’s not enough hours in the day to get all of it done.
Others hang out at patcons and talk about it.
I guess I come at 80% not as disposable firearms (as your point about DNA is true) but rather for when they come for your guns in red flag laws and hold you until you give all of them up. Me? I hand them over with a smile, and know in the back of my head that the Rubicon has been crossed and that it is time to put in work.
Now private sales are indeed one way to address it but for other 80% are the way to go.
That is how I see them. Fight on your terms, not theirs. If it means a temporary loss, so be it.
I think our airborne friend is thinking too simplistically. If the opposition is capable of what we suspect they have planned for us, then the end game is for all of our DNA to be locked up in a re-education camp or dead in a ditch or splattered all over your own livingroom. Concerns about their forensic crime solving ability or electronic population control capability are not enough to deter me from keeping my options open. How the situation we are in ultimately plays itself out will also likely make a crucial difference to the relevancy of all these concerns. If there is a massive economic collapse and the government can no longer even pay their hirelings, how many do you expect will stick around to be shot at for an IOU or worthless federal reserve script? I’m betting not many. If there is widespread civil disorder and any kind of major damage to infrastucture, do you expect they will have the time, money or inclination to vaccume and DNA sample every violent crime scene in this country?
The tone of your post suggests you are anxious for others to start something. That is not reasoned thinking. The OKC bomber thought that way and thought he could trigger a large scale movement with some personal dynamic direct action. What he managed to do was get the entire 1990’s militia movement smeared as terrorists, which hamstrung what had been a strengthening grassroots movement. Hotheads in Charleston SC couldn’t let the Confederate succession play itself out and fired on Ft. Sumpter, which played into Lincoln’s hands and allowed him to declare a legitimate independence movement as a”rebellion”, and mobilize federal forces to crush it as such. How the state and federal population control assets are deployed and against whom may well come down to who can claim moral and legal legitimacy when the balloon eventually goes up. If President Trump can survive the present coup attempts and avoids having any personal accidents as many associated with the Clinton crime family have experienced, perhaps he will win in 2020 and the enemy will play their last card as part of a losing hand. In that case I would expect the State’s assets to be deployed in supressing them and not us. If they fail to do so, things will probably rapidly get beyond their ability to do anything at all, as the Mexican cartel situation demonstrates.
Just my thoughts, I can be just as wrong about all of this a anyone else, but I suggest directing your eagerness into legal and sound preparations and watching the big picture very closely.
This is an excellent addition Mike. Thanks for expressing this as you put it better than I could, but my thoughts mostly echo yours.
Hey Johnny Para. Nice meeting you this summer. Your thinking and resultant posting might become more clear once you escape your embrace of the Eastern Seaboard by whatever means necessary. It’s likely been established that you are not going to leave that place, but that you’ll continue in your chosen pulpit to try and bum out the rest of us.
Dilletante summer sojourns to your kin’s places out this way, count for little by me. There’s lots of dudes here who own property in this state. Why is it that you continue to like but bitch about Baltimore thinking, after seeing just a small slice (Cody-type) of what is available to you as a youngster, in a better place?
Your DNA references are hysterical, paranoid, and for the 9/10ths part, wrong. Get some good air and try again.
Get west off of the East Coast. Establish yourself out this way, without aid from Cody relatives. Get yourself a clearer-thinking way to live than what your are being exposed to in effing Maryland. You have potential, quit wasting it as the time clock ticks on to your detriment. Get yourself a good and independant life while such is still possible for you.
Quit your public bitching. Spend that time improving your life in a place better than where you’re at.
My best to you.
Quietus
Can you keep food on the table for family and friends/trigger-pullers/teammates for a year or more? If you don’t have a solution for this, having back-ups for rifles isn’t that important because you are going to run out of one REALLY IMPORTANT thing long before you need to replace a bolt or rebuild your extractor and/or spring assembly. If there is a real problem in this country, there will be replacement guns and parts: there are about 300MM of them in civilian hands – not to mention toys owned by the various incarnations of The Other Side to be picked up and dusted off.
Meanwhile, Russians were eating their children inside of 12 months during the Holomodor. Selco is the Serbian dood who writes about his time in Bosnia (1995). He said as they ran out of food, he paid $20,000 USD (everything he had left) for two weeks of moldy flour. Think that over.
Food and water. Comms and training. Sanitation & meds. Faith, family, & friends. Extra lowers *after* all of that is nailed down to a level way beyond your normal prepper guy’s preps – or you are planning to be one of the marauding murderers / zombies.
Hence why I wrote: “but I can certainly tell you what two of my top priorities are (aside from food, water, medical supplies, and the absolute basics)”.
@Patriotman – Yep, I read that. My point is that while ‘parts’ are good, spare receivers is an example of stuff that ain’t worth much – and that you’d probably regret buying if your kids got hungry. If you wear out a rifle after SHTF, you are a cross between a CAG Ninja and a Demi-God. And you probably have CAS.
If you don’t have one thousand gallons of clean water and/or a way to harvest/transport/purify same, and you don’t have 5,000 *meals* sorted out (minimum) you shouldn’t be buying spare lowers. But Barter! Okay, man – except you aren’t getting food from someone who doesn’t have a gun already so “Maybe” – at best.
I’m not doggin’ you, and I’ve got lowers and 80%ers, and spare parts and tools and practice with same. I’m just saying to the folks out there that they need more food and more other stuff than they need new gun stuff. Buying gear is the easiest thing to do in the world.
Definitely appreciate your article and other contributions to this site. Your article reminding people that Not Getting Shot is better than Getting Shot – especially if there are no Medevacs or ERs available – is a great addition to the Get Training Now mantra around here. Good hard advice and/or a Reality Check for people thinking that they’ll kick doors and rock out.
Just making sure you saw that, that’s all. I would generally agree with you that most preppers are enamored with the gun and tacticool side of the coin but not the food/water comms side. So I would imagine that most fail your scenario.
Food isn’t something they can take a selfie with >_<
I suppose my view is that realistically I think that the supply of those items will dry up before a real grid down scenatio hits. I could totally be wrong and an EMP could damn us all tomorrow but I want a near lifetime supply of lowers and magazines because i think scarcity will hit those first.
Your points were certainly not lost on me and most definitely were accurate.
