Is Virginia Brewing the Next Harpers Ferry?
My friend MT out at Lower Valley Assembly sent over his thoughts on the near future in Virginia. I tend to agree that the flashpoint may very well shape up there, as those living there or close by the NC border know that there’s two very different Virginias- the DC trash that look down on everyone not connected with the beltway as subhuman, and good folks who take an extreme amount of pride in the rich heritage that is the Commonwealth. That divide is becoming more and more evident amid the role the Sheriffs are taking in declaring county by county to be 2A sanctuaries.
And it’s important to note, the 2A doesn’t just apply to guns…pretty sure the clause for the militia is in there as well. Anyone who says otherwise is either an idiot or an enemy.
One of the events that inflamed tensions just prior to the US Civil War was the 1859 raid by abolitionist John Brown against a military arsenal at Harpers Ferry in Virginia (Now it’s in West Virginia). Brown was hoping to lead an uprising of slaves and establish an independent stronghold of freed slaves in the mountains. Slaves were, of course, denied the right to have arms, so the raid’s success would provide weapons to supply the slaves and other freedom fighters. But the raid was not a success. Ten of Brown’s men were killed during the raid and John Brown was executed for treason and murder. His last written words were, “I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood.”
2020 Presidential candidate, former New York City mayor, Democrat, billionaire, and wanna-be tyrant Michael Bloomberg recently spent millions to help the Democrats win majorities in the Virginia state house and senate. Shortly after the election, Governor Northam announced that they would begin “banning the sale of [semi-automatic firearms] and high-capacity magazines, restoring the law that limits purchases to one gun a month, and a red flag law that would empower a court to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others” as soon as they could pass such laws. Northam additional said that confiscating firearms was something he is working on.
Democrat senators in Virginia submittled SB16 which among other things creates an extremely broad definition for “assualt firearm” and prohibits any person from “importing, selling, transferring, manufacturing, purchasing, possessing, or transporting” the same. There is no grandfather clause; possession is prohibited.
Last night, hundreds of Virginia citizens decended on a Virginia Beach city council meeting, calling for the city to become a Second Amendment sanctuary. Gloucester County earlier had voted to become a Second Amendment sanctuary. As of December 3rd, twenty-four counties in Virginia had adopted Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions.
In the Declaration of Independence, our forefathers wrote that some of the most important, unalienable rights were life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The rights and powers contained in the Bill of Rights all support those three unalienable rights. Most of the Bill of Rights are in support of the right of liberty. The Second Amendment is one of the few which supports all three. What good is your right to life without means to defend it? Those who claim that their right to life means that no one should be allowed arms are profoundly incorrect. Noted professor of law at the time of the Bill of Rights ratification St. George Tucker said “the right to self-defence is the first law of nature” and that the Second Amendment is “the true palladium of liberty.” A world without arms simply means that those with physical strength will take as they want. As the old saying goes, “God created men, but Sam Colt made them equal.” No tool so far invented is a greater equalizer in a fight against a superior opponent than a firearm.
Virginia has also introduced SB64 which makes it a felony if one assembles for training or practice “for use in…a civil disorder.” As Law Enforcement Today notes,
The most dangerous words in this proposal are “knowing or having reason to know” and “in furtherance of”.
The reason being that intent is no longer really required, leaving every gun range owners and employees susceptible to prosecution for simply doing business. It’s plain as day why this language is the way it is, because with these key words, only loose connections need to be established to criminalize gun owners and enthusiasts.
Furthermore, civil disorder is also quite a broad term as well to be concerned about.
The Second Amendment has a prefatory clause, that being “a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state.” Recently some people have opined that well regulated means that there may be laws banning certain firearms from ownership. What well regulated meant at the time, however, was that the populace making up the militia must be well trained at arms and their use in order to be effective as a fighting force. Banning training in the use of arms because it might be put to use in a civil disorder runs exactly counter to having well trained/regulated citizens.
With all of the Democrat Presidential candidates calling for severe firearm restrictions and heavy handed legislation being proposed or passing in other states, it is no wonder that 2019’s Black Friday saw the second highest all time firearms sales. Virginia is on pace to break its annual gun sales record after setting a daily record on Black Friday. The people see a threat and are responding.
Attempts to disarm the populace are attacks both on the people’s right to life and their right to liberty. (They are also attacks on the right to pursue happiness.) This is why such legislation is so vigorously opposed by firearms owneres. It isn’t because “they are gun lovers;” it’s because they love life and liberty. And this is why Viginia’s new direction is so dangerous. The rapid surge in sanctuary counties is telling of people’s sentiment. The government there may be satisfied to criminalize possession and then wait things out, but if there is a push toward confiscation things could get ugly. Any success will lead to other states following suit.
There is another old saying that there are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty – the soap box in which people use free speech to sway people to their cause; the ballot box in which the people try to vote in representatives who will actually represent them rather than succumb to other corrupt influences; the jury box in which people may show their dissatisfaction with laws through the use of jury nullification; and, finally, the cartridge box or ammo box through which people fight for their liberty.
The battles of Lexington and Concord were an attempt by our government to seize firearms so that the citizens could not fight back. They sparked the Revolutionary War. The raid on Harpers Ferry was an attempt to seize arms from the government so that slaves could fight for their freedom. It sparked the US Civil War. Could firearms confiscation in Virginia or in another state be the spark for a second, much uglier, civil war?

If the Patriot community has not fought back yet they never will.
Steve,
Never say never.
I find it obvious that no body in our government (both houses of Congress and the courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court) gives two shakes of a rat’s butt about The Constitution as they all violate it on a daily basis. The SCOTUS should NOT be taking up any gun control legislation except to declare that ALL gun control legislation limiting the right of we the people to keep and bear arm is unconstitutional. What in heavens name is so hard to understand that:”A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear ARMS, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”. That means that ALL gun control legislation is unconstitutional, PERIOD! The framers of the Constitution did NOT place any restrictions as to how many fire arms, how much ammo, on the type of fire arms or ammo the people may possess, so there for neither the government nor the courts has the right to set such limits. Such limitations serve only as a means for the government to prevent WE the PEOPLE from defending ourselves, should the government become tyrannical, which it slowly is. I also believe that our government is slowly getting rid of the “NATURAL BORN” citizen constitutional requirement for those seeking to run for the office of president or vice-president. Every one in the media and the politicians are bemoaning the fact that poor Kamala Harris dropped out of the race, but they fail to state the she is NOT constitutionally eligible to run, since she is NOT a “NATURAL BORN” citizen. Yes, she was born in California, which makes her a “citizen”, but NOT a “NATURAL BORN” citizen because neither of her parents were U.S. citizens at the time of her birth. They did not become citizens until Kamala was five years old. The government screwed us over with Barack Obama who also was NOT a “NATURAL BORN” citizen, since his father was NEVER a U.S. citizen. Just look at how much damage Obama did to this country. I believe a second civil war is coming, and the blood will be on the hands of those in government (every level) who have disregarded the Constitution and WILL of the PEOPLE.
If anyone were serious about this, we would see them right now beginning to share intel about the location and vectors for taking control of federals…

The onus falls on gun selling establishments and registered businesses that train civilians. They have an interest in legally earning their keep, but when they abide by unconstitutional laws, they shift the onus to the citizen. At some point they will have no choice but to go out of business or operate in the dark. Meanwhile, they are profiting on lawfare that drives their businesses.
Virginia is like Nevada, just a few counties/cities have turned the states to shit…
@Charley Prime
Just because it is not in evidence in public does not mean that contingency planning is not underway by capable persons. It is not a good idea to “share intel”, whatever that is supposed to mean, in a public forum, when the intel you are reporting amounts to your own future plans.Thinking and acting clearly are required in order to survive this crisis. Lets use our heads here.
Great essay by MT. Just a couple of thoughts I would like to add. John Locke’s phrase was Life, Liberty, and Property. Jefferson and his peers substituted “Pursuit of Happiness” for property, and, unfortunately, I think they watered down a crucial concept in the process. I believe they were trying to appeal to the landless, unpropertied men who would be fighting in the Patriot army when they chose those words. It sounds very American, and it is , but pursuit of happiness could arguably be described as a simple subset of the concept of liberty, which they had already covered. Property on the other had is nearly as important as the right to life, Indeed, there can be no other rights without property rights and they are the basis of all liberty. I’m not talking about the European concept of owning title to land and therefore having “rights” derived form that status, I am talking about the right to acquire, produce, exploit, and dispose of those physical things which you posses through your own labor and effort A man who produces something while others decide how it will be disposed of is a slave. An example of this slavery would be socialized medicine. In such a case, the State has enslaved medical professionals into the service of those who dispose of their product under the the anti-concept guise of a “right to healthcare” There is no right to the labor and property of others.
Abolitionist John Brown’s intentions with his 1859 raid was to not only arm freed slaves in a rebellion against slaveholders. His goal, and the goal of the wider Abolitionist movement was the complete eradication of Southern culture and the complete elimination of Southern whites and their replacement with the freed slaves. The abolitionist movement had become increasingly frustrated with their inability to eliminate slavery in the American South as the 19th Century progressed, and they came to view the revolution in Haiti after the French Revolution as an example and master plan of how to accomplish their goals in the the South . The short story of Haiti is that the slave revolts there ended with the complete elimination of the white population of that former colony. Whites were forbidden by the new Haitian Constitution from living in the country and the first self proclaimed emperor symbolically ripped the white field out of the red/white/blue French tricolor flag leaving just the red/blue flag they still have today. I will spare you further details of how this revolution was conducted and how that country evolved, or not, since 1805. Southern Americans were aware of all of this in 1859 of course, and had long understood that Northern abolitionists hated them to the extent that they wished they would all be killed at the hands of an alien race. Browns raid showed that many Northerners not only thought this way, but they were also eager to carry this plan out . Simply put, it is not possible to maintain any semblance of a nation when one faction thinks it has moral authority to break the law ( the Left has always ignored laws to achieve their goals), initiate violence, and murder an entire population of people they don’t like. Southerners of course took the dim view that these people were no longer to be considered their countymen and took lawful and peaceful political action to severe the political bonds with the rest of the United States. These observations are in no way intended to be a defense of the institution of slavery on my part.
I believe the emerging crisis in Virginia resembles the Lexington example and not Harpers Ferry. Lexington is an example of free men, British citizens, fighting for their property rights and their ancient right to bear arms . Brown’s raid and intentions are much more akin to something ANTIFA or the 1960’s Weathermen would conjure up in their feces smeared dorn r
A thought on the Intel aspect of what’s going on in these counties. The Sheriff is top Law Enforcement person for the county. He can deny the state and the Feds access for Law Enforcement purposes in his/her county. I don’t see that lasting long once the state gets this in front of a Libtard Judge. They need to step up their game.
Excellent observations there, N.C., and what can’t be emphasized enough is that ‘northern virginia’ is only vaguely, geographically connected to Virginia. It is the ‘Swamp’ (that Trump can’t, or won’t drain) and these people are completely and entirely ‘out of touch’ with the rest of the state. I live in what could be considered a ‘Borderlands’ County, coming under increasing ‘invasion’ by Swamp Dwellers, bringing with them their diseased ‘politics’. The attitude and demeanor of these people are Alien, they truly Hate and look down upon ‘les Deplorables’ and this sudden move to make such ridiculously non-Constitutional ‘laws’ seems to me to indicate they are becoming overtly desperate to ‘Disarm the Peasants’ before the Mob comes knocking…
Seeing what these bolshevik communists like (((bloomberg))) are openly doing to Negate our God-Given Rights only makes it more obvious by every Day that this must be settled by Blood, and a lot of it.

All, I’ve seen my comment / warning below on a popular gun blog shared in several pro-freedom sites. Please write similar on your favorite sites or copy/paste mine. I think the false flag is coming, likely in VA.. Perhaps if this becomes a common knowledge meme, like ‘Jeffrey Epstein didnt kill himself” it may take a tool out of the controllers toolbox. Thank you

Kaiserworks had this to say.
Time to keep eyes open for Agent Provocateurs in the pro 2A rallies or an incident directed at an anti-2A Politician. I can tell you right now that when you see ‘breaking news’ and the badged orcs kitted up responding to some crisis, it will not be from our side. I implore those at the rallies, that if they see anyone smelling of an undercover Fed, contractor or even someone off their meds, be vocal and notify all those around you to the Trojan horse in your midst. Early warning and exposure may be the only thing that can derail a psyop or blackhat operation in progress.
Looks like the next war of secession will begin with the counties voting to split from their cities.
Bloomberg is tribe. He longs for the “good old days” of his Messiahs – Lenin and Stalin.
So the country is going to burn to the ground thanks to some black faced corn studded turd with arms and legs in Virginia?
That is just so goddamn pathetic.
If you aren’t in honey badger mode already you better get on it. Put the drooling dumbass distractions down the drain and prepare to hoist the Jolly Roger.
It’s heating up. I just read this one:
‘The law is the law’: Virginia Democrats float prosecution and National Guard for police who fail to enforce gun control legislation
Washington Examiner | December 11, 2019
Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard.
After November’s Virginia Legislature elections that led to Democrats taking control of both chambers, the gun control legislation proposed by some Democrats moved forward, including universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, and a red flag law.
Legal firearm owners in the state, however, joined with their sheriffs to form Second Amendment sanctuary counties, which declare the authorities in these municipalities uphold the Second Amendment in the face of any gun control measure passed by Richmond.

Not sure how accurate this is… but this came in my news feed today.

Thats very interesting coming from Federal Congresswomen of both sexes considering that;
-The state laws being proposed would be a violation of the Federal Constitution, and are therefore unconstitutional.
– The only reason a federal lawmaker should be concerned about a state law is when it violates the Constitution and not the other
way around.
-They have shown none of this militant willingness to deploy troops to enforce federal immigration law in multitudes of state and
local jurisdictions where “alien sanctuaries” have been declared. Wonder why not?
-The Virginia National Guard is not theirs to command.
I think that folks need to think about original line in mysteries: ” It was a dark and stormy night…….” Winter is here and it’s cold and blustery and unkind to many. Lots of terrible things happen in the dark, in the cold, and the hidden. Sometimes, folks just disappear without a trace. Be sure to keep checking your list of people-in-the-know. The United States sure is a big country. Immigrants show up and think that they can use all to their advantage. Demand “their” rights, get in with the correct crowd, and suddenly they think that they call the shots. However, being a local has the upper hand of knowledge in places, people, and parts. Never doubt someone’s ability to get pissed off by the smallest infraction. Going Galt might be a new opportunity in the same territory.
