From Kalashnikov Group: AK-12 vs M4

An interesting video sent by a contact over at Kalashnikov Group comparing the AK-12 to the M4. Its obviously biased, but still an interesting watch. The AK-12 bears an uncanny resemblance to Palmetto State Armory’s AK-P. -NCS

Interesting video. Personally I think the comparison between the AR or AK platform is a form of mental masturbation. Use what you are familiar with. With that written, it is always a fun discussion though…Right?

Obviously, the commentator in this video was a bit bias but that is okay. One thing I have to challenge him on is cold weather use of the AR platform.

During the month of January, -10 degree F is the norm here during the night with days hovering around zero. I have never had a failure of my AR to go bang at those temperatures. Yet he was trying to run his AR clone at -3 degrees C or 21 degrees F. I suspect a bit of tomfoolery there. \”/

Thanks for posting NC Scout. It was a fun watch.

It is! When they sent it I thought it was satire.

I spent a couple of years and some 10,000 rounds helping Dave Lauck develop his custom AK platform hybrid. Before that I had used ARe exclusively. After finishing the development state it was a no-brainer for me – DL Sports SLR in 7.62×39. Still have my ARs and still shoot them, but the SLR is the carbine I grab at night if I need to run varmits of from the barn.
