Wednesday Ammo Deals

This was a real shot taken at one of the NC Bass pro Shops. The people were there to buy ammo.

How much ammo you got? Not enough is the correct answer. As most already know, a lot of the most popular calibers are running short and as I discussed with the AP staff two nights ago, we haven’t seen the real beginning of it yet. So you might want to get what you can, while you can. Don’t be the people in line at Bass Pro full of hope and short on foresight.

And no, steel case .223 is never a good deal in an AR-15. Never.

American Eagle 1k rounds 5.56 bulk pack

Geco 5.56 600 rounds

Picked up 600 rounds of the Geco .223 because the shortage is real!

I suspect a lot of people are waiting until prices stabilize and drop back where they were, but I am pretty certain that they aren’t going back down to pre-Wuhan flu levels this year or ever. Find good deals and put your TrumpBux to good use.

Nah, they’re not coming back down. Its an election year and the media has done all they can to sway public opinion. Since they have an unironic dementia patient running as a candidate, this ‘virus’ is just the start.

I recently got a great deal from SG folks to add to my and friends .22 collection, keep practice/small game hunting skills up.

While I may never have enough ammo have enough to fill a large closet and cannot see the ceiling.Due to price increases and wanting to leave some for others to get who are light in this dept. am really not shopping any longer, will leave it for the next guy or gal.

Nice to see posts with links so those in need can stock up a bit, best to all here.

The ammo crisis is definitely real but, as of today, .308 hasn’t really jumped much. I still see steel case for $0.45 – $0.50 / round and in a few cases quality hunting ammo for $0.65 – $0.75 / round on sale. That’s right where .308 was pre-crisis.

FWIW – maybe not much – when I built my first AR, I “broke it in” with 1200 rounds of steel case Wolf/Tula/Monarch without cleaning and just some motor oil every 300 rounds. At the time I figured if it could run garbage with no cleaning, it would run everything else. I never experienced any issues and now have an additional ~1000 rounds of brass through it and still no issues.

I am running a fairly high quality bolt/extractor combo, so maybe that’s why I got away with it successfully?

That’s good and a big part of it. The other issue is tightness of the chamber.

…they are WAY behind the power curve.
