Having some issues with AP? Yeah, so are we.
If you’re seeing the above image, you’re not alone.
The price of admission for literally running everything yourself is that sometimes stuff messes up. I’m not an IT guy and this is outside my lane, but I’m getting bombarded with emails asking why people have either restricted access or appear to be banned. Relax Francis, you haven’t been. It blocked me too.
Wordfence is one of the security programs we have to use to keep the site running and for whatever reason its not playing well with some of the other systems that were just upgraded. Its automatically blocking anyone that doesn’t look human on the backend, usually for too many page requests.
In short, we’re working on it. I’m stretched VERY thin on my end, so please, be patient.

Well,I hit a bunch of articles and have had no problems,so,hope you gave the system a good kick and all is well now.
It’s in the wordfence settings. there has not been an update to Wordfence since December. However, there was a new version of WordPress a couple of days ago. My guess is that one of your plugins is causing it.
Yep, that’s what’s causing it. We’re just now having to figure out which one.

same here i click through articles to open multiple windows so fast it thinks i am a bot,
Easily rectified!
Delete wordfence.
Joe
That’s not an option.
Some info to help debug:
1. That error “exceeded maximum number of page not found…” makes me think you have some asset on your website that’s throwing a redirect. I’d check that y’all don’t have contradictory redirect rules on the web server, then check the same for any WP settings or JavaScript since all of those parts of your stack can trigger a redirect. Also check for any 3rd party ads, or a malicious plugins triggering redirects.
2. I’m able to get around it simply by rotating IP addresses and clearing cache. Sometimes it takes about 5 attempts.
3. I’ve also triggered Wordfence by opening too many tabs. I usually for all the new articles, right-click to open any I want to read. If I do this too quickly or too often, it’ll start blocking the connection and I’ll need to swap IPs again.
This ^^^^^ #2 and #3.
I will also say that when this happened to me a few days ago, Scout responded almost immediately to an e-mail I sent about this. Kudos to you (and the rest of the AP team)…
I also load a lot of articles at once to read, so the answer is to just slow down on the tabs I guess.
Thanks brother. I try to stay on top of site issues as best as possible, but interacting with the loyal readers is of critical importance.
Just sayin…
This happened to me on our wifi/sat connection.
As soon as i went to just the cellphone, all was good

Have to say Scout, you are a class act brother. You handled our discussion quite well.
AP is the one site I check every day whether I’m in a browsing mood or not. Oh Gosh, I’m becoming a groupie…Crap!
Well, my lone goal is to get the best information out there, bar none. What we do is no game and from our discussions, past and present, you know. Its not the numbers but the quality of readers and for that brother, the bar is high.
I’ve had this happen several times, it’s usually o.k. the next day. My ISP isn’t the best. AP has been problem free for me lately. Thanks for all you do, your content is top notch.
Its done it to me several times. If I turned off my proto VPN it will open the page.
