Rifle Scope Glass: Supply Going Dry
How much you want to bet the Chinese and others, like India, are gonna buy up all the rifle glass?
Infantry weapons require scopes.
Something the Japanese Machine Gun teams taught our boys in the South Pacific in WW2.
It is the standard now.

No Glass No Ass
Hmmm….,feel cozy in glass land, but, you in need perhaps time to get!
I will say until a day ago had noticed 7.62×39 reasonably priced,as I hit sites as a barometer of what is up noticed some low supply and price rising fast.
I do not know if this is due to folks reaction to Afghan issues or what, has seemed stable for a few months now.I guess one other thing since majority foreign is perhaps shipping issues.
I wonder if this glass issue will also affect red dots and their ilk.
One of the main reasons to buy the high end stuff is the quality of o-rings and purging as well as the glass for longevity over many winters and summers.
A friend has a plain 6 power S&B from the’80s. Still good.
Hmmmm…..,found out reason for 7.62X39 price increase: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2021/08/20/russian-ammo-ban/ ,this will bring up the cost of all ammo at least for the short run.
Again,stolen elections have consequences.
Its not only optical glass in short supply, its anything that uses glass, as in fiberglass, electronics components, laboratory supplies, booze bottles and car windshields and the vials liquid medicines come in. Even the sand used for glass making is in short supply. Its not only Chinese glass makers affected.
I googled “glass shortages.” Its real.
Can say safety coated(ie auto glass)and say optic glass with coatings be ground up and reused or is that not a viable option.
Seems while many times not for better tech improvement does at times have a good side.
