Every war since the dawn of time has been fought over resources. All the confusion by the media is because cable news channels are mockingbirds (pun intended). They don’t understand how wars are fought or how they are coordinated and executed. It’s just good ratings. Even if they say something dumb, people watch their videos to see how dumb they are, but that counts as ratings.
I argue that shooting accounts for a tiny portion of what should be considered “war”. Positioning and posture are everything. WW2 went as well as it did for the US because we didn’t involve ourselves directly until Europe had been fighting for 3 years and Japan started expanding about 10 years before the Pearl Harbor attack. Not long after that attack, the Japanese attacked the Philippines. Distract, maneuver, strike.
I assess that the US will be crippled or at least temporarily disabled by Cyber attacks and small kinetic attacks before we see a large scale move by Russia. I agree with your 6 month time frame. I don’t discount Scout with the “New Iron Curtain” theory either. I don’t think Biden is lying about Russia intending to take Ukraine. If you play the boardgame Risk, you need the Middle East and Russia(Eastern Europe) to control Asia. China and Israel have the Middle East.
Agreed. China is the BIG winner in any conflict between US and Russia. Its all about resources. Russia has a huge border with China with a less than fabulous history there. So much of our executive and legislative branches are in deep with China. I just wonder how much of our policy is being steered by the pro-China factions?
