Request for Information (RFI) – Weekly SITREP

I am going to make this a weekly post so that we can use this as a place to make any reports on unusual activity or localized hotspots of trouble. We did this a few times during COVID (here, here, here, and here) but I figured that, as our conditions continue to degrade around the country, it would be useful to bring this back as a regularly recurring topic of discussion.

Post your reports in the comments below.

    General Location: SW Missouri

Food Price / Shortages: Prices are rising, almost 6$/# for ground round. Weekly groceries for a family of five up to $350

Fuel Prices / Shortages: No shortages, Diesel varies from 4.60 to 5.00 depending on where you go.

Unusual Military Movement: None at this time

Civil Unrest / Crime: Not much crime here, as this area is very rural. Crime is mostly drug related. Local sheriff unofficially says to disappear “those kind” – I don’t suspect there would be much of a search effort / investigation.

    Interesting Local News / Events:

    Public Service Interruptions: None really,

Changes in Patterns of Life: None visible here.

Any additional observations or comments: Early fall is here, harvest is mostly completed, and heating season will likely begin by the end of the month.

    General Location: Upper New England

Food Price / Shortages: Elevated / No shortages

Fuel Prices / Shortages: $3.78 reg $4.30 Diesel / No shortages

    Unusual Military Movement:

Late last week, Low altitude Canadian balloon stationary northwest of Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. CFB Gagetown is a few miles to the southeast.

10/9 Canadian military C-130J left an airbase on norther shore of Lake Ontario and conducted a series of box pattern and circle flight patters in the vicinity of Sherbrooke just above the US Border at Vermont. Odd for a straight up transport aircraft. This aircraft has some spec-op capabilities as options, but I am unaware of the Canadians having those features. Area is a hotbed for illegal alien traffic crossing the northern border.

Higher than normal NATO C-17 traffic refueling at Bangor Maine ANG base and flying on to other points in the US since the Gaza fighting started.

Civil Unrest / Crime: Same levels as previous reports

Interesting Local News / Events: None

    Public Service Interruptions: None

Changes in Patterns of Life: None

Any additional observations or comments: None

    Update to yesterday’s post…

Any additional observations or comments: This morning I went by my local Bank of American ATM to get some cash. The only denomination available was one hundred dollar bills. The $10’s and $20’s were no longer available. This appears to be an initial step to remove the smaller denominations out of circulation.
