Chinaman still doesn’t look too comfortable around that wildman. Seems he is expecting him to whip out an AK.
Whether you like China doing this or not;
1) China shares a border, albeit a small border, with Afghanistan.
2) The Taliban is the Ruling/Governing Power in Afghanistan.
3) Sovereign Nations get to appoint their own Ambassadors (basic International Law).
4) China is a Sovereign Nation and can choose who they do/do not recognize.
5) China is going to develop International relations with Afghanistan (anyone still remember the estimated 1 TRILLION -USD- worth of rare earth minerals in Afghanistan).
6) China is an Enemy Nation (or at best hostile Nation), so of course they are going to be allies/friendly with a Nation that just defeated their (Chinas) major geopolitical rival.
7) China would like to mitigate a potential ally to the Uyghurs/Uighurs.
