Telegram Channel Run by ‘Cyber Police’ Helps Chinese Illegal Immigrants Flood Into US: Report
An online network managed by a self-proclaimed agent of the Chinese government reportedly helps illegal immigrants enter the U.S. by evading border authorities.
The network utilizes a Telegram channel titled “American Self-Guided Tour Channel,” serving as a platform for discussions on illegally crossing the U.S. border.
The channel hosts over 8,000 members and provides documents detailing specific routes, an investigation by the Daily Caller has revealed.
It also helps members identify border wall gaps, offers advice on answering Border Patrol questions and includes scripts for requesting asylum.
One translated document advises applicants for a green card to “be sure to prepare a story about your persecution in advance.”
Another document provides responses to questions Border Patrol agents may ask to determine whether an asylum-seeker has a credible fear of persecution from their home country.
A hypothetical question read: “Even if moving would be inconvenient, can you live safely elsewhere in the country?” to which the sample answer states, “No, because the situation I’m facing is nationwide.”
“Even if I move to another place, I’ll be under threat just as before,” it continued.
Another post offers templates for crafting asylum claims based on political, religious, racial, sexual, and gender persecution.
Documents stored on the channel reveal a relatively sophisticated understanding of the U.S. immigration system, per the report.
Some documents feature intricate flowcharts mapping out various potential U.S. immigration pathways.
The channel lists South American locations, including Quito, Ecuador, and Necocli, Colombia, as starting points to reach the US border.
One document identifies 15 border wall gaps, with 12 located in California.
The outlet discovered the Telegram channel and several related groups facilitating Chinese illegal immigration after analyzing a Chinese illegal immigrant’s abandoned cell phone.
The alleged man behind the account is a self-identified cyber cop who bans members that do not align themselves with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
“Yes, I am cyber police,” he said back in April when asked to identify himself.
Daily Caller explained that Chinese cyber police work for China’s Ministry of Public Security, monitoring website content while spreading propaganda online.
Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC), who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee’s Oversight, Investigations and Accountability subcommittee, reacted to Daily Caller’s investigative report by noting a 1,100 percent increase in Chinese illegal immigration since the first full fiscal year under Biden.
“We’re allowing an element that is completely beyond our law to be established firmly as a beachhead in the United States of America, and the people of America are going to pay a severe price, much worse than we are paying even now,” he said.
“Even people, like me, who’ve seen a lot of it have not yet totally come to grips with the sort of depth that you’ve described,” he added.
Customs and Border Protection data shows that most of the approximately 48,000 Chinese illegal immigrants encountered by U.S. authorities in 2024 have been single adults.
This revelation follows the Biden administration’s reduction of the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants at the border, Daily Caller reported.
