I Wish I Could Build a Wall, by Scipio

I wish I could build a wall that would keep sadness and heartbreak away.  A wall where I couldn’t see sorrow, or hear it, or hear about it. I wish that it were that way so that I could live in happiness and peace constantly.

But I can’t have just the glorious, the wonderful, happiness and mountain top experiences all the time. The life I live is also littered with sadness and sorrow and hurt as well. That’s not the way God intended it to be. But that is how our Father let it be.

That’s the world we live in and we have to take the good with the bad, the joy with the sad, to strive to help those who hurt also (II Corinthians 1:4 “He comforts us every time we have trouble so when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us.”) and not only give them a sympathetic ear, and understanding glance, and a helping hand, but also encourage them to DANCE with joy over their troubles because God has given us one thing to remember; in the end God wins and all who belong to God also win in the end.

Don’t overlook the bad and its demanding school. Don’t look at the good and just soak it in. Take it all in and live it all and leave your life in the hands of God.

Become a member of the “Press Club”. “Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I PRESS on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting that what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead I PRESS on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 3:12-14

Do you feel the mountains tremble? Do you hear the oceans roar? When the people rose to sing of, Jesus Christ, the risen One…open up the (heavenly) doors and let the music play, let the streets resound with singing, songs that bring your hope, songs that bring your joy, dancers who DANCE upon injustice. Lyrics from Delirious’ “Do You Feel the Mountains Tremble?”

To quote Larry Norman, “I believe in rock and roll.  I believe I stand on the “rock”, and my name is on the “roll”.

When the saints go marching in, I am going to be in that number. “Therefore, the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.” Isiah 51:11

“According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.” Philippians 1:20

I have written this as my response and my declaration in the heavenly places within the context of grievous events in my life over the last six weeks; with the recent death of my best friend, having to put down my ten-year-old German Shepherd, learning a church friend’s son committed suicide, and hearing this week cancer has come back into my body.  I am not ashamed of the Gospel.
