This comes from a largely Dispensational understanding of Scripture. There is a *lot* there, and it doesn’t really do justice to try to summarize here, but the short version is: Israel is still God’s chosen people. His rejection of them is only temporary (Romans 11). He gives plenty of prophecy in Scripture that talks about His future plans for them (Zechariah chapters 12 through 14, Ezekiel chapters 40 through 49). Does the state of Israel do everything right? No. Should we overlook their mistakes and sins? No. But we should also be trying to support them wherever we can? Yes (Gen 12:3).
