The First Step to a Plan: Pray, by GuerrillaLogistician

Corbett lined up his rifle down the side of the building, taking advantage of the hasty hide he had established over the warehouse the night before.  He sat there staring at the side of the building, waiting to see some activity and hoping there wouldn’t be too many people. All of his friends had left to go do a reconnaissance several miles away, leaving a skeleton crew to defend his small community. That night, however, a marauding band had slid into the neighboring town and raided several families.  That town had brought their injured over to their limited medical facilities, but Corbett knew if this band were large enough, they would have to ambush them as they rolled in.  Intelligence would be key, and he, with the limited able-bodied men, left Corbett did one of the dumber things he could do, sneaking out to their enemy’s position and trying to recon the area without being caught.

Hoping this force wouldn’t have any SIGINT capabilities, he had come out with a tablet and radio to send messages back. With the sun cresting behind him and the front of the building partially collapsed, the only real exits were on the side of the building.  The noise of the party last night didn’t sound promising, and the routine bathroom breaks of men shambling out into the tree line were disconcerting.  Even with his AGM sidekick and Gen 3 white phosphor Pvs 14 at this distance, he could see men and identify weapons, but he had only differentiated a handful from one another based on the mix of weapons and a few guys wearing different footwear. So far, his number was up to 6, which he figured the other town should have been able to handle.  The big risk was how they departed, and if these guys left taking the most direct route, they would come through this part of the woods, but if they took the road, a hasty ambush would box them in nicely.

As the sun really burned into the building, the sounds of last night’s regret rolled out of the building and reached Corbett in the still air, overshadowing the few birds moving about.  Not long after, a mass exodus of the building began with people carrying sleeping rolls and their rifles.  He counted as the men streamed out through his magnified optic. One two three, seven, twelve, twenty-three, Corbett’s number just rose as he sat there watching the mass of men coming out, realizing there was not one woman among them.  Did he see two squad automatic weapons come out on two of the guys’ backs? These guys would have to be absolutely stupid and walk into a nice file towards any ambush not to be a force that concerned his community.

His community had two weapons that acted like a SAW, but they were little more than belt-fed AR-15 uppers with a forced reset trigger. Even with that much firepower, one of those had gone on the expedition, and one was left to defend the community. With his eyes open, he quickly prayed to God that the information he was about to transmit would set up the defenders well enough so that they would not have too many casualties.  The first step, a prayer to god, done while he was typing, calmed him and made the workload a little less stressful.  He was alone in a terrible situation where he would have liked to have a small team and a Quick Reaction Force.  None of that was available, and he alone was the trip line for his community.  As he continued to observe, he heard the rumble of engines. Alone but not truly alone. His prayer was the first step in his action plan, but not his only step. As quickly as he could, Corbett pulled out his tablet connected to his radio and started punching in all the information.

Pressing send as the vehicles left the area and the noise of the engines subsided, Corbett packed up, praying again that God would intervene and push this raiding force away.  He wanted lightning to strike all of them down from the sky, but a subtle nudge into a kill box his fellow men would be setting up right now would do.  He knew he could ask for anything, and truly, all he wanted was for the raiding force not to hurt his men and community, and justice to fall on their heads for the chaos they had caused.  “Please, God, just find the right path for us.”

The First Step is Prayer

The moral ambiguity of people is absolutely horrifying. It’s not only people who actively do the mass shooting, but it’s the others who stand around and do nothing that is such a horrible thing to see. I’m sure eventually these videos will get around if you look for them and I am certainly not somebody who enjoys murder porn. But the abject disregard people have for others is absolutely astounding.  The truth is, I want to get this article out well before Easter Sunday. Unfortunately, I wasn’t fast enough to do that; maybe that was divine intervention in its own right. Joe Dolio wrote a great article about the shooting on campus.

Perhaps I’ve been around too many horrific accidents but I’m not a big fan of murder porn and watching a woman walk by another woman on campus with a Starbucks infuriated the hell out of me. What major issues I thought I had pretty well under control? My quick reaction to anger. That said, Christians are taught to forgive, which is another issue I run across with things like this. I don’t wish this woman dead, and I certainly don’t want that her life is totally ruined beyond redemption. But much like the story above about the Raiders, I hope justice in its way falls upon her. We had a large discussion about doing the right thing and God’s moral and spiritual commands not just to stand by and watch a bad thing happen.

Nowadays, I watch videos where people are standing around at a gathering, and when one small group runs, the whole mass of people runs away. Why shouldn’t they run? It’s one of our survival instincts, and nowadays, everybody is forced to be unarmed everywhere. The gathering I watched had armed guards with body armor and metal detectors scanning each person as they walked in. This outside party event seemed very festive and joyous until the cameraman who was there to record the event pointed at a group of people running. He asked twice rapidly why they were running and then turned and ran for the cars along with everyone else in the area. You could hear the feet slamming against the ground and the huffing as he put in all his might to get away from the threat. Can I blame this guy? Not. He’s running away because he cannot defend himself, but the reality is that no one wants to stand up against anything anymore.

From cancel culture scaring men away from even dealing with an altercation in the streets between the man and the woman, to Kyle Rittenhouse, who probably shouldn’t have been there but was.  Then there was Daniel Penny, a man who stopped a deranged person in a manner that wasn’t intended to kill but only to incapacitate, unarmed but skilled enough to defend the whole train full of people. His life was turned upside down, and his name was dragged through the streets because the person he grabbed happened to be a different race from his. Why should anyone get involved with any of this?

Much like the little story above, we must make judgment calls on where and when we engage. Right now, we’re in the weak man era of society. This doesn’t mean everyone is weak, man, or won’t stand up. Daniel Penney is probably one of the best examples of a good man doing a good thing. Do you send out your limited forces to defend another town or let the Raiders take it over? Do you react hastily and push those forces in to save who you can, or do you wait for an opportune time with more information and set up a complex ambush that they won’t survive? Will you be the one going down the street seeing a woman get the crap slapped out of her and just walk on because you know if you engage it may be a life or death situation for you if not just a legal one. What landing pad of morality will you stop on? What engaging event will be your hard limit, and how far will you go to try and stop it?

Right now, I’m watching person after person get online on websites like TikTok and X and call for violence. They call for all the people who were let out of prison over January 6 to be reindicted and thrown back in jail because of Trump’s actions with illegal immigrants. What happens when one of these nutjob judges decides to act on his version of morals and rage at people that he politically disagrees with? One of the things missed by so many on the left is the fact that Hitler felt threatened by the church because of their moral standpoints. Not only did he see them as a threat to his control, but he also thought that they were a large enough threat because they guided the people to a more moral and just position that was counter to his plans and beliefs. It is so hard for me today to watch people on the left denigrate religion in general, these people expressing their hypocrisy, but I know most of those fights are irrelevant because I can’t change their minds right now. These people will not listen to reason, but this does not mean I will do anything about it. Corinthians has to say that Christians need to follow their moral standards even when others have their own beliefs, specifically in the consumption of sacrificed foods.

To make a long story short, from what I can interpret, a good Christian can eat food that has been sacrificed and offered to him without his knowledge with any moral or spiritual ill effects. But if he is offered such things, he should politely explain to his host that he should not partake. Not for his moral sensibilities but that of his hosts. Corinthians also talks about not being degenerate sexually, especially when the pagans see the same thing as being abjectly immoral. Specifically, the sun is sleeping with the father’s wife. That to us now probably doesn’t seem as bad as sexually transitioning a child or the pedophilic behavior from a select group of drag Queens wanting to hang around children.

We can’t all fight every injustice on every level at every moment of the day; we can support those who have, and we can help those who have been attacked. Sometimes it’s money, sometimes it’s a prayer, sometimes it’s an action plan, and most commonly it’s a combination. The point of this article was not just to remind you that there are bad things going on, that you are a good person, and maybe not a Christian, who should stand up against them, no matter how small. I will never ask you if you are a non-believer to stand up against this because of the Bible or God.

If you know in your heart that something is immoral or repulsive, running away from it will cause other people to run away from it as well. You don’t always have to bash somebody in the head and stop them, but sometimes just tell them that this is a wrong course of action. Half the time, all you have to do is say I just called the cops, and if you did call the cops, the situation might de-escalate quickly. The last little thing I want you to understand, regardless of whether you are a Christian or an atheist, is the fact that people, for many reasons, can pray for anything.

The only rule to this is to ensure you are doing it in good faith and not to promote some sinful position in life. Don’t pray for that woman to call you so you can have sex with her. Pray that you will be a better man and be worthy of her attention if she is worthy of being with you. The first step is the prayer, and quickly following that should be an action of yours to move on the path that is left for you. As a Christian, you will know that God will grant you joy, but maybe not exactly what you want. When we see these horrible actions by these horrible people, pray for their redemption, pray that you will stand up when faced with the same horrible events, and pray that the people calling for violence realize what a horrible idea it is. I hope all of you have a happy Easter and had a very restful weekend.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
